Angelina Jolie in Belgrade

Angelina Jolie is hoping to visit Belgrade in order to promote her directorial debut film In the Land of Blood and Honey and find out first-hand the reactions of the Serbian audiences to the film, it has been reported by Voice of America. In an interview for this broadcasting institution, the actress confirmed she would be the film’s Sarajevo premiere on 16 February.

- We still don’t have a confirmed date of the Belgrade premiere. I know this is a difficult subject but we hope we are invited. The premiere in Sarajevo has been set for 16 February, and this will mean a lot to me and everyone here, she concluded.

As Blic understand, the Blitz Film & Video, who are responsible for distributing In the Land of Blood and Honey in the region, has already sent an invitation to Jolie to attend the premieres in Zagreb and Belgrade.


- Angelina has confirmed her attendance at the Sarajevo premiere, which was expected given the film’s plot. She is supposed to arrive in Sarajevo a few days prior to the premiere but we do not know how long she is planning to stay in the city. So far we have had no information regarding any potential visits to Zagreb and Belgrade and Angelina has neither confirmed nor denied the possibility, Ivona Lusic of Blitz Film & Video has said for Blic.

- If Angelina decides against coming to Belgrade and Zagreb for the premieres it is possible she will still visit the two cities at a later time once she manages to fit it in her schedule, said Lusic.

The venue, date and time of the Belgrade premiere of In the Land of Blood and Honey have yet to be agreed on.

Avram Grant in Belgrade Partizan

Although the negotiations with the coach are nearing completion, it is almost inevitable the renowned coach will sign a three-year deal with the reigning Serbian champions and try to lead Partizan to new domestic trophies, as well as a place in the Champions League group stage. Grant will reportedly be earning €800,000 a year, while he will come into a €400,000 bonus should he take Partizan into the elite competition’s group stage. It has also been revealed Grant’s assistant coach will be Giovanni Rosso, a former Croatia international and Grant’s assistant coach while both of them were at Maccabi Haifa.
 

In the past two days the Partizan board have been getting in touch with potential managerial candidates across Europe. While secret negotiations were ongoing with Enzo Scifo and Erwin Koeman’s agent in Munich, an offer was tabled from former Danish playing legend Michael Laudrup. However, the deal was eventually made in Athens as Partizan agreed to Avram Grant’s salary demands, rejecting quoted salary of €1,200,000 by Swedish coach Sven-Goran Eriksson. The Partizan board were additionally attracted by the fact Grant will bring with him a sponsor from Israel, which will partially cover Grant’s wages.

Another item on the Partizan board’s agenda this week is to make sure the sacking of previous coach Stanojevic does not damage the club financially and find a way to avoid paying out a €300,000-heavy severance pay due to Stanojevic’s valid contract. The Board are yet to convene and discuss the legal options Partizan have.

Avram Grant, 57, first coached a number of Israeli clubs and the national team, after which he took over Chelsea FC in 2007 and took the team to the Champions League final in Moscow the following year, which Chelsea lost on penalties to Manchester United. Then Grant managed Portsmouth and West Ham. Grant is also a friend of Serbian tennis player Ana Ivanovic’s family, as well as Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.
